The Giving Hope Foundation

Our sister organization

The Giving Hope Foundation (G.H.F) was founded in Guyana by Dr. Latoya Gooding in 2016. With G.H.F having the same interests as the Health & Education Relief Organization for Cancer (H.E.R.O.C.) founded in the United States of America (USA), we collaborated and soon the birth of the two became known as the sister organizations in the fight against Cancer. G.H.F. identifies by their slogan, ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’ and H.E.R.O.C. with ‘Give Cancer the Boot.’

Putting two heads and two teams together, we are now destined to conquer. We will continue in our fight together by conducting our missions, educating our communities and providing direction to Good Health.

We ask that you continue to support and donate to either of these teams as we continue to provide some much needed health care for our sisters and brothers.

Mission Statement

The GIVING HOPE FOUNDATION is a non – profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life and addressing Mental Health Issues in both adults and children diagnosed with cancer, suicide and other chronic illnesses in Guyana.

Vision Statement

The GHF will work to ensure that all patients and their relatives that are diagnosed with cancer will have access to appropriate Cancer and Mental Health Care Services.

Motto

Creating Pathways, for Care, Hope and Support…

Dr. Latoya Shonell Gooding was born on the 17th of November, 1988 in the mining town of Bartica found in the Cuyuni Mazaruni region, Guyana. During her early years, she attended St. John the Baptist Primary School in Bartica but left her hometown and her family to attend high school in the city.

As a student of Central High School, she was unsure if her place in the world but had a fair idea of what she wanted to do in life. At age 17, she started working at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation but resigned after obtaining a scholarship to study Medicine in Cuba. On her return, she continued working under the healthcare system but this time as a medical practitioner. She is currently pursuing her masters in Oncology in Brazil and is working assiduously with the Giving Hope Foundation, an organization she founded, to help raise awareness and funds for treatment for persons living with cancer.
